In the last few years, EVs have become one of the most popular choices among users. This choice of vehicle brings many benefits with it, resulting in its huge global success. The global sales of EVs reached 14 million in 2023 and further increased to 17.1 million in 2024, with the biggest contributors being countries like China, the United States, and Europe. Dealerships from many other countries, like India, the United Kingdom, or African countries like Cameroon, import EVs from these countries for the perks these cars offer.

However, with benefits, there are also a few challenges that come in to affect the success of Chinese EV cars and those from other countries. Well, there are some myths floating in the automobile industry that are posing as an obstruction in the path of the growth of EVs. This is why, here, we will debunk all the myths that take away EVs’ excellence. This, in the end, helps you find more reason to trust this automobile option.

Myths That Should Be Debunked

EVs are one of the biggest reasons that motivate people to buy cars from China online, resulting in the country forming 95% of the global sales in 2023, along with Europe and the United States. However, the numbers can turn upside down if the common myths about EVs aren’t cleared up in time. These create confusion regarding the environmental benefits of the cars. So, we are here to debunk the following myths with proof.

Myth 1: Charging EVs Actively Uses Fossil Fuels

Claim: EVs are charged at charging stations, which acquire their electricity from grid stations that are run on fossil fuels. This lowers the environmental benefits that are offered by EV cars.

Truth: The technology on which EV charging stations relied on fossil fuels is backdated and isn’t used anymore. Now, there has been an adoption of solar and wind power, which are renewable sources. This doesn’t just lower the carbon footprint; rather, they have no tailpipe emissions. This works in reducing the emission of greenhouse gases and improving air quality.

Myth 2: EV Batteries Create Hazardous Waste

Claim: EV batteries are disposable and contain potentially hazardous and valuable materials. So, the disposal automatically releases dangerous waste, which is extremely bad for nature.

Truth: The technology used in EV car batteries is highly advanced and has become better with time. This is why the batteries have advanced recycling technologies, which make it possible to recover the valuable materials from the batteries before disposal. Major Chinese EV car companies are using methods that help in recycling around 95% of the lithium-ion batteries used in the cars. Other than that, many of them are also working towards introducing sustainable practices in the production of EV car batteries.

Myth 3: EV Production is Contributing to Deforestation

Claim: Lithium is one of the main components in EV batteries, acquiring which often results in deforestation. On top of that, magnet is a rare-earth mineral that is also required in EV production.

Truth: The mining industry recognizes that there is a slight issue. However, many EV companies are working towards fighting this harmful effect. They are introducing sustainable practices in their production, which is helping to protect forests and biodiversity. Other than that, the technology of battery recycling and the use of alternative battery chemistries are also helping to lower the demand for lithium. Hence, it can be concluded that dealerships from Cameroon or any such countries that buy a car from China do not contribute to deforestation.

Myth 4: The Maintenance Cost of EVs is Comparatively Higher

Claim: EVs are advanced cars, so they require much more maintenance. This is why EVs are costlier than fuel cars, resulting in you paying more in the process.

Truth: EVs are a smart investment and cost-effective throughout their entire lifecycle. The lower number of moving parts in them means that there is less need for maintenance and repair in these. However, the best part is the fact that charging is enough to run these cars, so there is zero need for paying a hefty amount towards fuel costs. This is exactly what makes dealerships from countries with high fuel costs, like Cameroon, Hong Kong, and Switzerland, China, more specifically, EV cars.

Myth 5: EVs Are Only Suitable for Short Distances

Claim: EVs have range anxiety, which makes it hard to use these cars for longer distances. This is why the car is impractical for those who plan to travel for longer distances.

Truth: The recent Chinese EV cars have successfully broken out of the barrier that is set by range anxiety. The new EV range makes the cars the right choice for intercity and intra-city travel needs. Some of the newest models can easily travel for 300 to 500 km that even in a single charge. Other than that, the rising growth of EVs has also resulted in many fast-charging stations that help you get your car back on the road with minimal downtime.

Myth 6: EVs Aren’t As Safe As Gasoline Cars

Claim: EVs are prone to collision and accidents as the weight added by batteries makes them quite heavy. Plus, the batteries also increase the fire risks as they can be highly flammable.

Truth: Chinese EV cars come equipped with a highly efficient Battery Management System (BMS) that continuously checks the battery health. This helps in regulating factors like voltage, temperature, and charge levels. This way, there are many fewer chances of overheating, which automatically lowers related risks. Other than that, the EV batteries are designed in a way that helps in keeping their weight minimal. And the best part? These cars come with a long list of safety features that offer peace of mind to the driver.

Conclusion

Debunking the common myths about EVs helps in improving one’s faith in these convenient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly vehicle options. Through this blog, we worked on breaking some of the biggest misconceptions about the Chinese EV cars and those from other countries. We have shed light on the beneficial side of EVs, bringing the truth in front of you. We are sure that it will help dealerships and end consumers become more confident about these cars.
